Grunge-pop trio Hey Charlie kick-ass for so many different reasons. First and foremost, they make great music – and that, after all, is the chief qualification for being featured on this ‘ere site in the first place.

Secondly, they absolutely smash it when they perform live. We caught them a couple of times during festival season last summer and they got the crowd pumped way beyond what should be feasible for early/mid-afternoon slots on the schedule.

But perhaps more important of all, they kick-ass because they’re making this shit happen all for themselves. This latest jaunt around the UK was a DIY tour – self-booked, self-managed, and self-funded. They’re an all-female band doing things on their own terms.

With super-strong material to go with their equally bold and captivating brand and image, Hey Charlie deserve every bit of the success that will surely come their way.
