Bristol-formed band Melotone are purveyors of a pretty unique brand of alt-funk that is a product of a wide range of influences.
The funk-fusion underlines the exotic leanings of Brazilian frontman Alec Madeley, while jazz, pop and a wealth of other musical styles all lurk within their material.
New tune Big Clothes and Discos is a good example of the leftfield and wholly unpredictable stuff that they create. Well worth seeing and hearing for yourself if Bristol is your neck of the woods – they play Mr Wolf’s on 19 October and Nova Bar on 24 October, while our Birmingham friends also get a chance to see them when they play o2 Institute on 1 November.
