Dizzy have announced the release of a new covers EP – Basement Covers – due out in mid-November. They’ve marked the news with the reveal of one of its tracks, a cover of Talking Heads’ This Must Be The Place.
Like everything this Canadian four-piece does, it is exquisite, building a wonderfully atmospheric soundscape as a backdrop for lead singer Katie Munshaw’s divine vocals.
Earlier this year, the band released their superb second album The Sun and Her Scorch, and since then, they have kept things ticking during this very strange 2020 by sharing covers of their favourite tracks on YouTube from quarantine. The new EP collects these with brand new recordings of some of the band’s most beloved tracks, including renditions of tracks by The National and Britney Spears.
Speaking about the Talking Heads cover, Munshaw said: “This Must Be The Place took on a new meaning once quarantine hit. We chose to cover it because it seemed like the perfect push and pull between being on the road and missing home and missing being on tour with your band while being stuck in quarantine.”
